Marketing for IELTS, OET and German language institutes in Kerala, counted in students who join the batch

A language institute sells a date: the next German A1 batch, the next OET mock, the next IELTS weekend class. Most institute ads in Kerala still read like a brochure, and most enquiries go quiet on WhatsApp before the batch starts. We run Meta ads, Google Ads, Business Profiles and WhatsApp follow-up for IELTS, OET, PTE, German and Japanese institutes, with every claim written to the coaching-ad rules. Our wider education work runs from Kothamangalam.

Where batches leak

Six ways language institutes lose students before the first class

None of these is about the size of the ad budget. They are habits of a sector that grew on posters and word of mouth, and each one shows up in the gap between enquiries received and fees paid.

Ads with no batch date

An always-on ad saying “IELTS coaching available” competes with every centre in the district. A student acts on a date: German A1 from Monday 2 November, evening batch, fifteen seats. An ad built around the next batch start gives the reader a reason to message this week, and gives you a deadline to measure against.

Score claims the rules now forbid

“Guaranteed band 7”, “100% selection for Germany” and a wall of student photos with no details are what the CCPA coaching guidelines of November 2024 were written to stop. Besides the legal exposure, they read like every other flyer on the bus stand. One specific, true sentence about how you teach does more work.

Demo classes nobody turns up to

Many institutes offer a free demo, take a phone number and never confirm the slot, so a good share of bookings never arrive. A WhatsApp confirmation with the Meet link or the map pin, a reminder the evening before and another an hour before fixes most of that, at no cost.

Calling nurses at the wrong hour

Nurses on rotating shifts scroll after a night duty and message at odd hours. A callback at eleven in the morning reaches them asleep or on the ward. An assistant that replies on WhatsApp at once, and a counsellor who rings at the time the nurse chose, is how a shift worker gets enrolled.

One profile for three branches

An institute with centres in Kochi, Muvattupuzha and Thodupuzha often has one Business Profile, or three unverified duplicates made by staff over the years. Google answers “ielts coaching near me” with the nearest real branch, so each staffed branch needs its own verified profile, its own batch posts and its own reviews.

Counting enquiries, not admissions

An enquiry report flatters whichever channel produces the most names. Instant forms on Instagram fill quickly; whether those names pay a fee is a separate question. Until each enquiry is matched against the fee register, nobody can say which channel actually fills a batch, and the budget drifts towards the cheapest lead.

What we set up

Batch-start campaigns, lead offers and follow-up that reaches the fee receipt

Three parts, built once and reused for every intake. The ads create demand for a dated batch, the lead offer turns interest into a booking, and the follow-up carries that booking to a paid seat.

Ads built around the next batch

  • Meta campaigns split by test and level, each pointing at a named batch start with timing and seats in the creative
  • Google Search ad groups for OET for nurses, PTE, German A1 and Japanese N5, split by branch location
  • Malayalam ad sets for nurses and families in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar who want an online OET or German batch
  • Retargeting of people who watched a class video or booked a demo but have not yet paid

Lead offers people act on

  • A free demo class with a fixed date and time, confirmed and reminded on WhatsApp, online or at the branch
  • An IELTS, OET or PTE format mock test marked by your trainer, with a feedback call booked straight after
  • A German or Japanese level check that places the student in the right batch instead of a sales call
  • A verified Business Profile per staffed branch, with batch posts, real classroom photos and reviews from actual students

Follow-up to the fee receipt

  • An AI assistant on your own WhatsApp Business number, answering in Malayalam, English or Manglish within minutes
  • Four sorting questions: which test or language, which country, current level, and which batch time suits
  • Reminders before the demo, the mock and the batch start, then a human counsellor for the decision itself
  • A CRM where every lead is marked joined or not joined, so cost per enrolled student is a real figure

Every ad and landing page we write follows the CCPA coaching guidelines: no 100% selection or guaranteed score, no success rate you cannot prove, and any ad featuring a successful student states the result, the course taken, its duration and whether it was paid, with written consent given after the result. We ask to see the consent form before a testimonial runs. Our guide to marketing IELTS and OET coaching covers the rules in detail.

The Kerala market

Who studies a language in Kerala, and what they are buying

The buyer is rarely just “a student”. It is a nurse with a rota, a plus-two leaver with parents paying, or a Malayali in the Gulf studying online. Each needs a different ad, a different hour and a different promise.

Nurses are the largest single audience. The UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council accepts only two English tests, IELTS Academic and OET, and OET is built around healthcare situations, which is why nurses are its natural audience. Germany asks for German instead: the Triple Win route, for example, needs B1 at the visa stage and a B2 exam after arrival. So an OET batch and a German B1 batch often compete for the same nurse, and the ad has to say plainly which route each one serves.

German institutes face a competitor that charges nothing. NORKA Roots, the Kerala government’s company for non-resident Keralites, runs the Triple Win programme with Germany’s Federal Employment Agency and GIZ, and trains selected nurses from A1 to B1 in Kerala at no cost to them. Honest marketing says who that route suits and what a private institute adds: more batch times, learners who are not nurses, students aiming at university or Ausbildung, and preparation for the Goethe exams. Our German institute guide goes further.

Some institutes also advertise jobs: nursing posts in Germany, Ausbildung with a contract, a “job plus visa” package. That is recruitment, and under the Emigration Act 1983 only Recruiting Agents registered with the Protector General of Emigrants may recruit for work abroad; the active list is on eMigrate. We run language-course ads for any institute, and job ads only for an institute whose licence we can see on that list.

Kochi carries the most competition: more institutes, dearer clicks and searches that are mostly in English. The central-Kerala belt of Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha, Thodupuzha, Pala and Kottayam works differently. Students want a centre they can reach by bus, or an online batch with a teacher they can meet, and they search in Malayalam and Manglish as often as English. Ads there run on a tight radius, in Malayalam first, with the branch address in the creative.

Then there is the Gulf. Nurses already working in hospitals in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar sit OET or learn German online, on a different weekend and a different clock. Families there also pay for a son or daughter’s IELTS batch at home. A Gulf ad set in Malayalam, with batch times shown in Gulf time and a WhatsApp reply in the same hour, reaches both.

Students and nurses travel to a branch from these places, or join its online batch from them. We size ad radii and plan Business Profiles around the towns each branch can realistically serve.

Ways to work with us

Three ways an institute can work with us

Audit and fix before the next batch

We trace your last intake from first message to fee receipt: how many enquiries, from which channel, how many booked a demo, how many joined. You get a written list of fixes, the ad claims that need rewriting under the CCPA guidelines, and a Business Profile check for every branch. Your team carries it out, or we do it once.

Monthly management, batch by batch

We plan each intake as its own campaign: creative shot in your classrooms, ads live four to six weeks before the start date, the WhatsApp assistant answering every enquiry, and a report after each batch that shows cost per enrolled student by channel. Month to month, with a written scope; stop when you like and keep everything.

Train your own marketer

Many institutes have a counsellor or an owner’s relative who already posts the batch flyers. The academy’s Advanced Performance Marketing course runs eight weeks, online or in Kerala, and covers campaign structure, tracking and testing. The academy teaches marketing; it does not teach languages or arrange study abroad.

First 90 days

The first ninety days with a Kerala language institute

Weeks 1–2

Trace the last intake

We visit the main branch, read the WhatsApp history and the fee register, and match the last batch’s enquiries to the students who joined. Every live ad, flyer and landing page is checked against the coaching guidelines, and anything with a 100% claim or an undisclosed topper photo comes down first.

Weeks 3–4

Build for one batch

One verified Business Profile per staffed branch, a landing page for the next batch with its dates and timings, the WhatsApp assistant with its four sorting questions, and the demo or mock-test booking flow. Ad accounts and the CRM are opened in the institute’s name.

Weeks 5–8

Run the batch-start campaign

Ads go live several weeks before the start date, split by test, level and town, with a Gulf set where it fits. We watch three numbers every week: demos booked, demos attended and seats paid, and move budget towards whichever ad set fills seats rather than forms.

Weeks 9–12

Cost per student, then the calendar

With one batch closed, you have a cost per enrolled student by channel. We plan the next intakes against exam dates, results and nursing recruitment cycles, using our 2026–27 marketing calendar, and agree whether the budget should grow.

Working with us

How we work with institutes in Kochi and central Kerala

Kothamangalam office, visits by appointment

Our office is in Nellikuzhi, Kothamangalam. We visit institutes across Ernakulam district, from Kochi to Muvattupuzha, and in Thodupuzha, by appointment, for the audit, the classroom shoot and the batch reviews. Institutes in Pala, Kottayam, elsewhere in Kerala or the Gulf work with us on calls and WhatsApp.

Accounts in the institute’s name

The Meta and Google ad accounts, every branch’s Business Profile, GA4, the domain, the CRM and the WhatsApp Business number are opened under the institute’s own email and card. We hold manager access. Ad spend is billed by Google and Meta to you, with no margin added by us.

Hours and languages

We work Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm IST; a Sunday message is answered on Monday morning. Ads, pages and replies are written in Malayalam and English by our own team. The assistant answers students at any hour, which matters when the people you teach work night shifts or live on Gulf time.

What we will not do

No guaranteed scores, no “100% selection” or “visa guaranteed” lines, no student photos without written consent after the result, no job ads without a recruiting licence, and no immigration advice to anyone. We have no language-institute clients we can name or results to quote, and we will not invent any.

Questions

What language institute owners in Kerala ask us

Can a Kerala IELTS centre still show student scores in its ads?
Yes, if the ad tells the whole story. Under the CCPA coaching guidelines, an ad featuring a successful student must state the score or result, the course the student took, how long it ran and whether it was paid, and the student’s written consent must be obtained after the result. What you cannot do is promise a band, claim 100% success or show a toppers’ wall without those details.
Our German institute competes with the free NORKA Triple Win route. How should we advertise?
By being clear about who you serve. Triple Win is a selective programme for qualified nurses, run with German government agencies, and it costs the nurse nothing. Your ads should not pretend otherwise. They can speak to learners the programme does not cover, to nurses who want other batch times or exam preparation, and to students heading to German universities or Ausbildung, with the batch details stated plainly.
Can we advertise nursing jobs in Germany along with our German classes?
Only if your organisation is a registered Recruiting Agent under the Emigration Act 1983, licensed by the Protector General of Emigrants and listed on the eMigrate portal. Recruiting for jobs abroad without that licence is not allowed, whatever the course attached. We run course ads for any institute; we run job-linked ads only after seeing the licence, and we suggest you take legal advice on the wording.
How do you work out the cost per enrolled student?
Every enquiry is tagged with its source when it arrives: the ad set, the Google campaign, the Business Profile or a walk-in. Your counsellor marks each lead joined or not joined in the CRM, matched against the fee register. Ad spend for the batch divided by the students who paid gives the figure, per channel. It takes one full intake before the number means much.
Which works better as a lead offer: a free demo class or a mock test?
It depends on where the student is. Beginners in German or Japanese respond to a demo class or a level check, because they are deciding whether to start at all. IELTS, OET and PTE candidates often already know the format and want to find out where they stand, so a marked mock test with a feedback call converts better. We test both for your institute before settling.
Do you visit institutes in Kochi, Thodupuzha and Muvattupuzha?
Yes. Our office is in Kothamangalam, and we come to institutes in Kochi, Muvattupuzha, Perumbavoor, Aluva and Thodupuzha by appointment from Monday to Saturday. The first meeting, the audit and the classroom shoot happen at your branch. Institutes further away, such as Pala or Kottayam, or owners based in the Gulf, work with us on scheduled calls and WhatsApp instead.
