Why do AI and data skills matter in a trading town like Thodupuzha?

Thodupuzha has a foot in two districts. The district administration's history page records that when Idukki district was formed on 26 January 1972, Thodupuzha taluk was taken from Ernakulam district to become part of it. The town still looks down the valley towards Muvattupuzha and Kochi as much as up to the High Range, and our campus lies downhill.

The same history says the district played an important part in the spice trade from ancient times, because pepper, cardamom and other spices grow more abundantly here than anywhere else in Kerala. Thodupuzha is the market town at the foot of those hills. Trading businesses live on prices, stock and money owed, which change every market day: exactly the records a data analyst turns into a dashboard and an automation keeps current.

Onmanorama reported in November 2025 that the Malankara dam is the primary source of drinking water for Thodupuzha municipality and seven neighbouring panchayats, with more than a hundred water supply schemes relying on it. Its level depends on tail water from the Moolamattom power house and on the monsoon: daily numbers that a great many households depend on.

Then there are the colleges. Newman College, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, has taught in Thodupuzha since 1964 and holds a NAAC A grade. The University College of Engineering, Thodupuzha, at Muttom, was set up in 1996, is run by the Centre for Professional and Advanced Studies and is affiliated to KTU; its website lists an Artificial Intelligence & Data Science branch alongside Computer Science and Cyber Security. The Al-Azhar group runs a dozen institutions here, from arts and science to engineering, dental, law and pharmacy. The Co-operative School of Law at Vengalloor calls itself Kerala's first and only co-operative-sector law school.

What is agentic AI, and what will a Thodupuzha learner build?

Agentic AI is software given a goal rather than a single instruction. A chatbot answers the question in front of it; an agent decides the next step itself, looking something up, calling a tool, updating a sheet or sending a WhatsApp message, then checking that the job is done. Can you do a data analytics course from Thodupuzha?

Yes. Data Analytics & Visualization with AI is a 2-month (8-week) course built around Python, SQL, Power BI and Looker Studio, with AI tools used throughout. The fee is ₹19,500 on campus or online.

Weeks 1–2: Python and Pandas, published as Kaggle notebooks. Week 3: SQL, from joins to window functions. Weeks 4–5: Power BI reports and a live Looker Studio dashboard. Weeks 6–7: machine learning basics and AI tools for analysts, including n8n reports that send themselves. Week 8: a capstone on a real Kerala business dataset.

Practice material is close at hand in Thodupuzha. A trader's daily rates, a co-operative society's loan book, a college's admissions year by year, the Malankara reservoir through a monsoon: each is a table of numbers that somebody has to turn into a decision.

The evening batch, 6:30 to 9 PM on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday, runs live online, so you can join from home after college or work. How far is the Kothamangalam campus from Thodupuzha, and how do you get there?

The campus is at Nellikuzhi, a few kilometres west of Kothamangalam town on the Aluva–Munnar road, near the Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences (IGIDS). The usual drive runs west through Vazhakulam to Muvattupuzha, then along NH 85 and the Kothamangalam bypass. Two alternatives are about as long: north through Kalloorkad, skipping Muvattupuzha town, or through Paingottoor to join NH 85 at Oonnukal. On OpenStreetMap routing, each is roughly 32–36 km from the Thodupuzha KSRTC stand.

Routing tools estimate about 35 minutes on clear roads; with town traffic, plan on 45 minutes to an hour. By bus, KSRTC and private services run the Thodupuzha–Muvattupuzha road all day. Change at Muvattupuzha for Kothamangalam, then take a local bus or an autorickshaw to Nellikuzhi. Journey planners put the trip at up to about two hours with waits. Services change, so confirm current times at the Thodupuzha stand.

On campus. Realistic from Thodupuzha, especially with a bike or car. The evening batch ends at 9 PM, so count the ride home before you choose it.

Hybrid. A listed course mode: weekday classes live online, and the campus when you want a trainer beside you. Tell us the mix when you apply.

Online. The same live session as the campus batch, with recordings within 24 hours if the power or a bus lets you down.
