The Create AI Agents Championship is a free, global competition run by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy and launched on 7 October 2026. It has four categories (Best Societal, Personal, Business and Youth AI Agent), each with an AED 550,000 grant, and one category winner is also named AI Agent of the Year with AED 1 million. Entrants submit a prototype, a pitch deck and a demo video; the launch announcement says registration closes in December 2026.
What changed

From building apps to building agents

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, announced the championship on 7 October 2026 as the new form of the Create Apps Championship. That earlier contest drew 15,564 applications from 153 countries over three editions, contributed to 1,700 prototypes and helped launch more than 140 apps, according to the WAM report of the launch.

The difference is what you are asked to build. An app waits for someone to tap a button. An agent is given a goal and works towards it: it reads a message, decides what to do, uses tools such as a calendar, a spreadsheet or a booking system, and acts. The championship's own description of the build stage says it plainly: define how your agent will reason, plan, use tools and take action. If you are new to the idea, our explainer on what agentic AI is covers the basics.

It also fits a wider push. In May 2026 Dubai launched a two-year programme to move its private sector towards agentic AI, and Dubai Chambers opened training tracks for its member companies in September. A competition that pays for working agents is one more way of building the talent pool those companies will hire from.

The four categories

What each category rewards, with an idea to start from

The category definitions come from the official announcement. The ideas are ours: starting points sized for one person or a small team in a few weeks, not entries we expect to win.

🤝
Best Societal AI Agent
For agents with positive social impact: inclusion, education, sustainability, community resilience. Idea: a community helpdesk agent that answers common questions in Malayalam, Hindi or Tagalog and passes urgent cases to a human volunteer with a summary already written.
🧭
Best Personal AI Agent
For agents that improve daily life, productivity, health, wellbeing and personal decisions. Idea: an agent that watches your inbox for renewals, bills and appointment letters, files them, and reminds you with the right document attached before each deadline.
🏢
Best Business AI Agent
For agents that help public or private organisations improve workflows, services, decisions and customer experience. Idea: a WhatsApp agent for a small clinic or trading company that answers an enquiry, checks free slots or stock, books the customer in and logs the lead.
🎒
Best Youth AI Agent
For entrants under 21 at registration; a team entry must be led by someone under 21. Idea: a study agent that reads a school timetable and exam dates, builds a revision plan, and adjusts it each week from what the student actually completed.
Eligibility

Who can enter, and the conditions in the small print

The headline rules are generous. Individuals and teams can enter, with a maximum of six people per team, and each team member registers separately. Technical and non-technical entrants are both welcome, there is no minimum age, and you can submit more than one solution. Your entry can start as an idea, a prototype or an early minimum viable product. Existing businesses may apply with a new AI-agent capability, but a fully commercialised product is not eligible.

The conditions that matter more in practice:

  • Original work. The agent must not be copied or taken from an existing repository. Learning from a public template is normal; submitting one is not.
  • Data protection. The solution must protect personal, confidential and organisational data and prevent leaks. Build and demo it on test data.
  • English only. All registration and submission material must be in English.
  • Working agent at the final. You can start from an idea, but the 12 finalists must show a fully functional agent on stage, not a mock-up.
  • In person in Dubai. The registration terms say finalists must attend the final ceremony in Dubai and that finalist status depends on a security clearance.

If you live outside the UAE, read the terms before you invest weeks. The championship page calls it a global competition open to UAE residents and international startups. The terms on the registration page are narrower: they name UAE nationals, residents and companies licensed in Dubai, and say non-resident international participants need a Dubai trade licence. Readers living in the UAE are covered either way. Grants are meant for developing the agent and setting up the business in Dubai; they cannot be transferred or taken as cash. You keep ownership of your idea, and the organiser gets a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your agent in its promotion.

From a builder's view

What a strong entry needs to show

The championship asks entrants to identify a real problem, build an agent for it and prove its value: customer need, business potential and measurable impact. From the agents we build for Beeps Digital clients, these are the things that separate a convincing prototype from a clever demo.

  • One person, one job. Name the user and the task in a sentence, such as "a clinic receptionist answering appointment requests on WhatsApp". An agent that tries to do everything is hard to build and harder to judge.
  • Show it acting, not chatting. The difference between a chatbot and an agent is the tool calls. In your demo, let the judges see it check a calendar, write to a sheet, create the booking and send the confirmation.
  • A human checkpoint where mistakes cost money. Payments, medical advice and anything legal should go to a person for approval. It makes the agent safer and the pitch more believable.
  • One number you measured. Run it on twenty test requests and report something concrete: time per request, how many it handled without help, how many it handed over correctly.
  • Test data only. The rules require you to protect personal and confidential data, so build on made-up customers and say so in the video.
  • A short demo video. Our advice, not a rule: two to three minutes covering the problem, one request handled end to end, and one case where the agent correctly says "I'll pass this to a person".
Building in time

Can you build a working prototype by the deadline?

Yes, if you start in the next few weeks and keep the scope small. The free championship workshops explain the concepts; what many first-time builders lack is hands-on time with someone checking their work.

⚙️
Fastest: AI Agents with n8n — 4 weeks
Twelve live online sessions of 1.5 hours, three a week, building AI agents in n8n without code. Four weeks is enough to finish a working first version well before submissions close. ₹7,750. Course details.
🤖
Deeper: Agentic AI course — 3 months
CrewAI and LangChain, multi-agent systems, agents that answer from company documents, voice agents and full business systems. A batch starting now ends around the time submissions are due, so you would build your entry during the course rather than after it. ₹22,250 online. For learners in the UAE.
🔁
Both, in order
Take the n8n course for your prototype, then move to Agentic AI for the semi-final stage. If you join Agentic AI within 90 days, the full ₹7,750 is credited against it.

Both courses are taught live online from Kerala, with recordings within 24 hours if a session clashes with work. If you are not sure which tool suits your idea, our comparison of n8n, Make and CrewAI is a quick way to decide.

Straight answers

What we can and cannot do for your entry

We are an academy in Kothamangalam, Kerala, run by Beeps Digital, an AI automation agency. We have no connection with the championship, the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy or its jury, and no course of ours improves your chances of winning. What we teach is the building: agents that use tools, follow rules and hand over to people when they should.

We have no office in the UAE; classes for learners there are live online, and fees are charged in Indian rupees. Dates and rules in this guide come from the sources below and can change, so confirm anything important on the official page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Create AI Agents Championship — FAQs

Who can enter the Create AI Agents Championship?
Individuals and teams of up to six people, technical or not, with no minimum age. Existing businesses can enter a new AI-agent capability, but a fully commercialised product is not eligible. The championship page describes it as open to UAE residents and international startups, and the registration terms add conditions for people who do not live in the UAE, so read them first if that is you.
Is there an entry fee?
No. Entering is free. You cover your own development costs, such as paid API usage or software subscriptions, and the organiser says it will not pay any of them.
How much can the winners get?
Each of the four category winners receives a grant of AED 550,000, which the championship site shows as USD 150,000. One of the four is also named AI Agent of the Year and receives AED 1 million. The total prize pool is more than AED 2.5 million, and the grants are meant for developing the agent and the business, not as cash in hand.
When does registration close?
The launch announcement on 7 October 2026 says December 2026. The timeline on the official championship page lists January 2027, the same month prototypes, pitch decks and demo videos are due. Plan on December so the difference cannot catch you out.
Do I need to know how to code to take part?
No. Non-technical entrants are welcome and the organisers run free workshops. You still need a working prototype by the submission date, and finalists must demonstrate a fully working agent on stage, so someone in your team has to be able to build. A no-code tool such as n8n is enough for a credible first version.
Is Beeps Academy connected to the championship?
No. We have no role in organising or judging it, and taking one of our courses has no effect on your chances. We teach people to build AI agents, which is the skill the championship asks for, and this guide is our reading of the published rules.
